Going on a trip is the experience of a lifetime. Since childhood, many of us dream to explore the world, wandering through beautiful nature. There are numerous places where you can embark on an adventure and explore nature. Coimbatore is a gateway to many tourist destinations and also a trekker's paradise. This blog is about Ponnuthu Amman Temple which I visited recently. I hope you enjoy it
These hills are secluded from the critically menacing pollution, furthermore, a finer ambiance that potentially locates the best spot to worship, trekking, and enjoying nature. There is a beautiful Hindu temple located near Coimbatore. I visited this place just after looking at it in Google Maps as it is located in the foothills. This is a wonderful picnic spot since there are many places in the temple where one can sit with family and friends while relaxing and enjoying the view from the top. It is amazing to visit this temple on a winter afternoon and enjoy a hot cup of tea after offering your prayers. The place is surrounded by many villages giving the trekkers a peaceful mindset.
I interacted with people there who were mostly tribal and I learned that the word “ponnuthu” can be split into “PON” and “UTHU” where “PON” means gold and “UTHU” is spring according to the local language spoken in that area. Thus, Ponnuthu finally means GOLDEN SPRING. This name is highly related to the naturally built atmosphere inside the cave.
The temple is situated a little inside from the parking lot and the walk to the temple is through the shrub forest. The hills looked fascinating, especially on a rainy day. The route to this place is well-governed with good road facilities including the attractive nature. The Ponnuthu temple has its own interesting story. The locals keep their holy God inside the cave within the darkness at all times while the water pours on it throughout the year. Even though the villages near it experience water scarcity during summer, water shower has never stopped showering inside the cave. That means, no matter what the climate is, the water always keeps dripping on God's statue. This fact blew my mind.
This trip was one of my best experiences and worth visiting in my life and I also recommend you all to visit someday, Have a safe trip uphill and make sure you return with cautious planning.
WISHING YOU A SAFE AND HAPPY TRIP:-)
